Roots:
About Jessi Simpson
Hello, I’m Jessi — the heart, hands, and voice behind Bloompress. This is my creative space as a woman, photographer, artist, mother, and mystic. Bloompress is the living body of my journey, where roots are held, stories are honoured, and lineage guides creation.
Bloompress first bloomed in 2018, carrying a vision to capture women in their entirety and help them find the voice to tell their stories. But my own path to this work began long before.
Early Callings & Creative Spark
From a young age, I was captivated by the changes of growing up — the body, cycles, and inner transformations. I craved depth, pouring myself into school projects, writing, and creative experimentation. By high school, my writing teacher told my parents I was destined to share my voice — that my ideas were unique and valuable.
Growing up on Mandjoogoordap country in South West Australia, I performed on stage, created films and parodies, and captured family memories on video. By nineteen, I was compiling travel and life memories for family and friends in a paid capacity — an early expression of my calling to craft story and beauty.
Around this time, I also began my personal embodiment journey. For two years I did not bleed. I ignored medical advice, listening instead to my body, and found yoga — a practice that became my path back to the feminine, the cycles, and the mysteries. Moving to Melbourne to study screen acting, I stepped fully into the path that would become Bloompress: capturing the women’s mysteries, a rite of passage so often missed.
Finding My Voice
In Melbourne, my creative journey deepened over coffee with a university friend, who showed me how to use a camera in a new way. I was later hired to shoot his wedding — my first paid photography job — and began capturing life to complement my poetry. That same year, I published my first poetry book, Love & Cigarettes, through a successful Kickstarter campaign. Sending out the first print run from our new home was my first act of fully backing myself creatively.
Over the years following Bloompress’ first bloom, I continued to develop professionally as a photographer, building a body of work that captured women, family, and the sacred everyday — all informed by my poetic sensibility and embodied practice. Around the same time, I fell in love with my now-husband, grounding my creative and personal life in partnership, family, and lineage.
Descent, Rebirth & Family
Moving with my little family to the Mid North Coast, I navigated personal hardship while deepening into ancestry, lineage, and belonging. I faced the loss of my maternal grandmother, my mother’s near-death battle with stage 4 blood cancer and miraculous recovery, and then the birth of my daughter. This period became my own maiden-to-mother passage, a rebirth that reshaped my relationship to self, earth, and life’s cycles.
This is the place where my roots are now firmly grounded — in family, lineage, and love — as we enter parenthood together. Bloompress continues to grow as a living field: a place where voice, embodiment, and sovereignty are honoured.
Studies & Lineages
I have long been immersed in healing arts and embodiment practices. Early studies in physiotherapy, music, and theatre laid the foundation for working with body, voice, and rhythm. Over the years, I expanded into yoga teaching, sacred circles, internal shamanic bodywork (certified), evolutionary astrology, and ceremony. I am also on the path to completing a Mystery School certification.
I hold lineages in Traditional Hatha & Tantra Yoga, Evolutionary Astrology, and Ceremony — humbly drawing on wisdom passed down through embodied transmission. These studies form the foundation of Bloompress alongside my grounding in theatre, film, and media communication.
Most profoundly, I am guided by my personal connection to place and country — first on Mandjoogoordap country, now on Gumbaynggirr country in the Coffs Coast of NSW. The land, rivers, seas, and seasons are teachers, shaping the subtle connections that underpin all my work.
Roles & Expressions
I take many forms: singer, writer, healer, creator, photographer. Mother, lover, daughter, sister, aunty, friend. I am deeply rooted in the strong yin feminine energy of Water, supporting others to access their own strength, intuition, and power.
Through Bloompress, I tend multi-media publications, The Inner Temple for women’s mysteries, and 1:1 creative studio experiences, where transmissions are co-created, sovereign, and deeply embodied. These offerings reflect my philosophy: creation is ceremony, work is not to “add more,” but to simplify, ground, and return.
A Living Field
Bloompress is a space where creation, ceremony, and embodiment meet. It is a living, breathing ecosystem where every part of life finds expression, and where others can safely explore their own voice, stories, and sovereignty while witnessing the unfolding of theirs.
The Invitation
Bloompress calls to those whose work, story, or vision resonates — together, sacred transmissions are born. Your stories, creations, and transmissions are honored — your sovereignty respected, your magic amplified.
May our journey together be nothing short of enlivening, magical, and transformational.
